NCAA Super Regionals

FSU beating UCON 24-3 in the 8th. Guessing their football team might keep it closer but then again probably not.

They did add a run to make the final 24-4. UConn fans can’t be in a good place after hearing they may lose their MBB coach then watch the baseball team get destroyed.

Tennessee got a gift playing Evansville. Thats basically a bye. Unc came back to win over WVU on a walkoff bomb. Uva also came from behind to beat K St.

They might be the best shot to have a non SEC/ACC team. If they lose, it sure looks like it will be only teams from those 2 conferences.

Oregon St currently has 2 runs on no hits. They loaded the bases through walks and an error then two more walks. They are a completely different team than the one we faced at their place.

Of course, they are facing a completely different caliber team than they faced when we were there.

And with oregon and Oregon st both losing it will be an all sec-acc cws with the final spot determined by winner of uga-ncst. Power in the sport sure has consolidated

Of the 8 teams that make it, there are only 2 titles among them, with uva and Florida each holding one. So not really a bunch of traditional baseball blue bloods, just a bunch of modern powers and upstarts from the best resources conferences. Pretty good shot for a first time champ

I was just telling my daughter’s boyfriend about the emergence of these teams. I explained how 5-10 years ago we wouldn’t have even known Georgia, Clemson or Kentucky, for example, even played baseball but now that those schools have football money pouring in and the rising popularity of the sport, those schools are dumping money into their baseball programs.

When I saw UK won their first ever Super Regional game I started wondering how many SEC schools does Tulane have more football conference championships and/or CWS appearances than.

UGA won in 1990. And you would think with how heralded Mike Martin was, they had won at least one, but alas no - bridesmaid 3 times.

So they did, good correction. I only remembered them losing to Fresno st in 2008. You would think a school like uga would have more tournament success than they have. Tons of talent around there but only 6 cws appearances all time and none since 2008.

Would be sort of sad poetry for fsu to win a title the year Martin passed

The Clemson CF"s catch to extend the game vs. Florida was one of the most clutch I've ever seen.

Well - won't be this year. 4 SEC/4 ACC. Seems like it's a compete toss up - Not much difference between Tenn and Fla. FSU v. Fla final would be "interesting."

I’m pulling for A&M because of Schlossnagle and they have gotten off to a good start with a 5 run 3rd to take a 7-1 lead.

Also flipping to CBSSports network where Nick Anderson is playing.

Aggies win 9-5. Tennessee folks where I live are going to be very disappointed if they don't find a way to come back.

BTW, no #1 overall seed has won the tournament since 1999 I think. Aggies winning another would keep that streak going

I think that year is right for the streak. I like that we are included even if it is about losses. The number of years in that streak tells us it’s not that easy to win it all and a lot of other good teams are on it with us. Feels good to be reminded we had the #1 team most of the season.

Vols win. Join the list of schools with 2/3 big three national titles. Would need a basketball title to join the much shorter list of teams with a title in all three.

They've been on that list since the Pat Summitt days! :-)

you know, I didn't think about women's basketball. I've thought about the list of schools with big 4 titles (which is quite short, I believe just Michigan and Ohio St.), but I'd have to go look at the list including women's basketball as an option. That's a research project for another time.
