You have no idea what you're talking aboutQuarterbackU wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 7:42 pm First they came for our Coaches, I did not speak out because I was not a Coach.
Then they came for our active Players in violation of Rule #36, I did not speak out because I was not a Player.
Then they came for our Fear the Wave Collective NIL Leaders (TU23)…
At this point, I fully expect to see a certain volkwagen van painted red and driving around Houston on Saturdays this Fall.
I guess we all have a price. Fear The Wave Collective Defection.

He was doing FTW for free. Willie offered him a big check, he stalled and gave Tulane every chance to even offer him a fraction of what Houston offered. Tulane offered a fraction of the fraction. So he had to do what was best for his family. Don't blame him, blame falls squarely on Harris and Fitts.
The thing that bothers me most is how Tulane is selling "we've changed, we're committed now!"... and then this.
Oh, and I hear Sumrall is angry about it too... Just what you want, your new coach already mad at his employer.
Regarding the commitment thing, there’s a reason Houston is in the Big 12 while we are not. There was no magical overnight transformation. We are still Tulane
Re: I guess we all have a price. Fear The Wave Collective Defection.
It doesn't matter. Tulane didn't pay him and Houston did.QuarterbackU wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 11:15 pmWe stepped up and paid Jon Sumrall.PeteRasche wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 9:47 pm The thing that bothers me most is how Tulane is selling "we've changed, we're committed now!"... and then this.
We FEASTED in the transfer portal when Sumrall got on campus.
Ultimately , Sumrall has a budget and gets to decide the way to allocate funds to bring the most W’s.
I just don’t understand the salary expectations of these NIL Collective Managers. Is it more than the Director of Football Ops, more than the Strength Coach, more than a Coordinator?
We talking $85k or are we talking $300k? I am curious the dollars these recently created positions demand.

He doesn't have to explain himself here, but as someone who has known Kelly for years, and considers him a good friend, he will never stop being a Tulane fan. He's been one since birth.Marathon Wave wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 2:13 pm I wonder why he doesn’t explain himself here?? Will he still have any allegiance to the Wave?

A lot of schools are after Jenkins. That doesn't mean he's leaving. He might, but there is no "done deal."nolasilver wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 11:15 am I thought this may actually fit the title of the topic, maybe it deserves its own thread. Lsu supposedly is tampering with Patrick Jenkins and he is a done deal to transfer. This would be a massive blow.

No transfer from any player from any program at any time would surprise in today’s world.
However as concerns Jenkins to LSU, quoting someone who states it’s a “done deal” then immediately asks if anyone knows anything about it is the least convincing evidence possible.

All we can do is give money to FTW, and hope it’s enough. If it’s not, atleast it will go to his replacement

I think it was about this time last year that Drake Maye was for sure headed to Alabama. Maybe he'll go and maybe he won't. I sure hope not and selfishly if he does leave I hope it ain't to friggin LSU. But this is the world we live in now.
If you want to blame anybody, blame the schools and NCAA who in an attempt to keep as much money to themselves for as long as possible have punted on putting reasonable structures in place and now complain about the chaos. They could've initiated the process to pay the players while retaining more control years ago and chose not to. So now you get this weird limbo that will eventually be concluded by outside forces, probably resulting in an equilibrium that is less than ideal from a fan perspective.

I knew this situation existed several weeks ago. I also know lsu is desperate for inside DL based on their spring football practices. That’s all I have.Baywave1 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 5:38 pm No transfer from any player from any program at any time would surprise in today’s world.

With spring football practices ending, my hope is lsu finds someone else entering the portal.

Football fans and supporters asked to pony up to buy a team no matter the circumstance. Just crazy.nolasilver wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 8:59 pm All we can do is give money to FTW, and hope it’s enough. If it’s not, atleast it will go to his replacement

It certainly didn’t convince Jenkins. Glad he stayed. Tulane needs a great season from him to make CFPBaywave1 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 5:38 pm No transfer from any player from any program at any time would surprise in today’s world.

I work near the belly of the beast. A coworker tols me 'it looks like we are goint to get your best DT.' There was a whole thread on tigerdroppings saying it was a done deal. I think that is what he was referring to.tjtlja wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 6:32 amI knew this situation existed several weeks ago.
