FB Game #3: @ Oklahoma
Re: FB Game #3: @ Oklahoma
Tumbuuh,...what impressed me about Mensah in the Spring Game was his ability to roll out and throw accurately on the run. Roll Him OUT!
Re: FB Game #3: @ Oklahoma
The piling on Mensah’s play is BS. Pile on Sumrall. Since 24-13, we have had four series and Mensah is 0-5. Five passes in four series with the majority of them behind the chains due to running the ball almost 90% of the time. Our coach went conservative. Just a crappy offensive game plan from the beginning. Blame this on Sumrall.
And huge kudos to the defense. Played great in second half. We need to bring the pressure like we did.
Both of these games were winnable. Just awful to be 1-2.

Well, at least LSU came back to win….

Re: FB Game #3: @ Oklahoma
This. I'm blaming the coaching, not Mensah. When something just isn't working, you try something else, even just for a bit. How have we not yet played Ty Thompson for a full series, even just to see him in a live game and give him some reps? Against K-State, we brought him in for one play, that was effective, and then immediately swapped Mensah back in. It just reads weird to me that we seem so afraid to let Thompson in for more than one play at a time, especially when our offense hasn't been clicking for much of this game.Marathon Wave wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 5:58 pmNot saying he's better. But there were times in the game I think he would have been the better choice at qb. And now, we need two scores. I'm not saying give up, but let Ty play. Don't risk Mensah getting injured.tulaneoutlaw wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 5:56 pm Has anybody considered that Thompson is not better than mensah?? Some of yall are acting like he's a veteran qb when he barely saw the field at Oregon. I'm not dunking on him, it's just true regarding his play time

Re: FB Game #3: @ Oklahoma
I mean right there, Mensah's helmet comes off. Instead of putting in another QB who all reports say competed with him for much of camp, we take a timeout and then put Mensah back in, and he promptly fumbles? I just don't understand not TRYING Thompson more.

Re: FB Game #3: @ Oklahoma
Yeah, there were some strange calls. But I will say that at least two of the deep passes just weren't thrown well.
Craddock is hit or miss in short yardage calls. That's where I would correct him.
On defense, we waited too long to bring extra bodies on run downs.

That was a sarcastic reference to an earlier post in this thread where someone said they were happy for LSU.

Can't say I'm happy with this outcome. We played hard (at times). We played dumb (at times). Coached had good play calls and bad play calls.
Hopefully we build on this - blame Francine.

Re: FB Game #3: @ Oklahoma
Two strong runs by Mahki -- over 9 minutes left -- 3rd and 1: CALL A PASS PLAY!? instead of maintaining momentum while eating up the clock!!?? Does Craddock have skills he can use doing something else for a job? How stupid can you get.....
Re: FB Game #3: @ Oklahoma
I'm really not letting them off with a hurricane excuse on this one, sorry. It made the week's schedule unusual but wasn't at all a major event that should have totally upended preparations. And I say this as someone based in NOLA.

Normally, yes, I agree. But OU is #15 in nation. We needed as much as we could get.

Re: FB Game #3: @ Oklahoma
Oklahoma was just the better team. We were outclassed. Yes there are things we could've done better, but this game was always a Longshot because of the talent disparity. We needed ksu last week and didn't get it. playoff is essentially done unfortunately
Now we will see how tough this team is and how they actually rebound. ULL is a must win period. We cannot let the last two weeks beat us. A conference title is still possible but only if these guys come together and play their very best the rest of the way

Re: FB Game #3: @ Oklahoma
The hurricane certainly was not an excuse, but major distractions always are, no matter how irrelevant.
If Baskin-Robbins introduces a new flavor, and suddenly the news is incessantly full of "How will the new flavor affect the Tulane game this week?", the there has to be an effect. The fact that the hurricane was a nothing-burger is of no importance; what is important was all the discussion about potential impacts.
