If y'all want some baseball to root for besides just the Wave, follow Birmingham Southern College baseball.
Birmingham Southern College is the school closing this year due to mismanagement of funds by a prior administration. Thread on that in the non-sports forum here: viewtopic.php?t=58544
They're playing game two of their D3 Super Regional today with a chance to go to the CWS on the line; they won game one over host school Denison 10-1 yesterday in the best-of-3 series.
If they win today (or tomorrow), they'll play in the D3 CWS next weekend with a chance to be still playing after their school shuts its doors. The school is basically done with academics at this point, but apparently it will technically cease to exist at the end of the month. The CWS runs into June.
At this point, these kids have literally nothing to lose - they've already lost everything. They're just having fun... as surmised in a great story on them in the New York Times this week. A little dry when they get into the "why is the school closing" stuff in the middle, but worth the read about baseball towards the end.

No matter how well they play in the CWS, this team has to win an ESPY this year.

Yup, and of this posting, the gofundme has over $35,000.
My wife drove up for the game today. The story most won't hear is that the team got food poisoning and played until they almost couldn't. Half the team was puking behind the dugout; some relief pitchers got proactive IV's in case they were needed, and good thing because they were. Their starter managed 7+ innings and when he came out, was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The two relievers who finished had medical tape on their arms where they'd been on IV's earlier. They were up 5-1 early but the heat and illness caught up to them; Denison cut it to 5-4 by the 8th. BSC scratched back two more in T9, and that was the difference: Denison scored two with two outs in the bottom of the 9th to cut it to 7-6 and had 1st and 3rd when BSC brought in a new reliever. The guy was so sick (and/or nervous) that half his warm-up tosses went to the backstop. But after starting 2-0, he managed to coax a 6-4 for the final out.
The players' parents sitting by my wife said they would likely have had to forfeit game three if they'd lost game two, because they had no more pitching. Everyone else was too sick to go.
ML's question is a good one but I believe some of the stuff is still being paid for. But a better question that came up, which my wife didn't hear anyone mention, is what are the players doing between now and the CWS Thursday? They missed graduation Thursday night, but their stuff is still in the now-closing dorms. They have to go back to campus and pack up and move out, but it's not like they can store it somewhere temporarily or move it to next year's dorm, they'll all have to take everything home and be back by whenever the team is leaving for Cleveland (probably Wednesday). If they leave to take stuff home, when they come back, there would be nowhere for them to stay either. And they're almost certainly not getting a practice or even a workout between now and then, at least on campus, because it's all closing up. What a logistical nightmare.

My wife and I watched it together (I had Tulane on a tablet but it ended first). She was in (happy) tears when they won.
They were up 4-0 early, and let the other team come back via (stop me if you've heard this before) walks, hit batters, and wild pitches. They were down 7-4 in B8 but managed to tie it at 7 and had the go-ahead runner on 3rd with one out before an ill-advised squeeze play that got the runner tagged out at home. After holding the other team scoreless in T9, their leadoff walked on 4 pitches before Webster (who'd already hit a 2-run bomb in the first) blasted the 0-2 nearly out of the entire park.
Great sign seen just after the game ended: "Dead College Society".
Sportscenter tweeted the clip of the home run and lots of the comments are "30 for 30"... In fact, there is a documentary company filming the team, they've apparently been following them ever since the announcement of the closing.
