Update from camp. Briefly mentioned here, but apparently we are very thin/unproven at CB. The list for portal needs is now: tackle, edge rusher and corner
Wait, wasn't that the position we thought was almost overloaded?
In the post directly above that one there is talk of numerous DBs. Those are a lot of nickels and safeties. We need a shut down corner or two. I’d like another Monroe type who was good enough that he got bored most games because teams avoided throwing to his side.

I like the conditioning (playing fast) mentioned in that article. I remember Tommy Bowden saying/doing the same thing when he got here. Players were saying they had never run so much. And it showed on the field. Defenses were gasping for air in the 3rd Q. Hope the team can buy into his methods. Getting excited for our first game.

I remember one of the OL I believe said one of the BYU defenders asked him “how much do you run?” during the Liberty Bowl because they were gasping for air while we ran down the field.

Corner is the one position where we can name someone who’s coming in who will expand the rotation on arrival.

curious how much time Tanzel spent on finding the best carcoochie board for entertaining

Unlike the old Staff lots of great info coming out on Football. Still waiting to hear or read about our DL and LB's.

Not really spring practice but definitely Sumrall related. Espn released a list of 30 coaches who will define the next decade of college football. Sumrall checks in at 15

But he checks in under "Who are the coaches most likely to make big, disruptive splashes at the next level ... once they get there?"

So, ya know, move along, nothing to see here, UNTIL he gets stolen by a P4 2. Then, hoo boy, look out.

Maddy has been producing some good content about spring practice in her podcast.

??? Point being? They expect great things from him at Tulane. If that provides better access to ascending P2 greasy pole, great for Sumrall

I just care about how he performs at Tulane. Glad writer thinks he will succeed

I'd like to see him make a "big, disruptive splash" by winning CFP games at Tulane. Then Tulane to make a "big, disruptive splash" by getting invited to a P4.

I'm not criticizing any judgment of Sumrall, I'm criticizing the article's typical bias of how a coach can't "matter" until he's coaching a P program.

Skimming the scrimmages notes on Twitter it would def be a plus if Makhi has picked up a speed gear since it was clear that it was biggest area for improvement

Also I know it’s super early but wish we saw a bit more from Ty already.

It’s a long road to the first game tho

I would like to see an extra step for Makhi. Hopefully he gained it (or will by the first game) I'm thinking Ty needs to learn the offense, my be slowing him down.

Players or facilities ? I wonder how the renovations are going. When does construction begin on the new suites at Yulman ? This year or next year ?

Interesting. The 13-point pick-6, eh? I guess Sumrall wants to stress ball safety to our QBs...

What about a pick 6 on a 3rd down fake punt..

Would that be 17 points? 8)
