With no divisions, those squads have no chance at winning a title unless they up their recruiting game

I think if a Nebraska or Wisconsin was willing to pay big NIL bucks they could do it. Nebraska seems to be willing and that may pay off if they get the right coach. Not saying it wins them a title but it might make them a contender some years.long green wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 8:54 pmNone of those squads have any chance of upping their recruiting game outside of hiring a genius who refuses to leave. Re: 2022-23 College Football Coaching Carousel
Here's a spicy hypothetical for a Monday morning. The cover 3 podcast took questions last night about the Wisconsin job. After going over the top candidates, Leonhard, Leipold, etc., someone asked about Willie Fritz. The host thought it didn't make sense to fire Chryst mid season just for Fritz, however, he thought it very plausible that if Wisconsin gets Leipold, Fritz would end up at Kansas.

I would think Kansas might be a little gun shy about 60+ year old coaches from Louisiana.
Re: 2022-23 College Football Coaching Carousel
Leipold might realize that at Wisconsin he won't have a chance at the conference championship with Ohio State there and then Michigan. At Kansas he can win the conference regularly and be in the playoffs most years.

It's pretty amazing that Michigan is assumed a power easily above Wisconsin when a couple of years ago Harbaugh was Dead Man Walking and Wisconsin was regularly in the Big 10 title hunt. Quite the turnabout that few would have guessed at the time.

Can you win the new B12 conference regularly at Kansas? I'm not so sure. I'd give Baylor, TCU, Cinci, UCF, BYU, and Oklahoma St. all better odds on a regular basis. Possibly Texas Tech and Kansas St. too.
Re: 2022-23 College Football Coaching Carousel
He won't be playing 5th fiddle to basketball though.
Re: 2022-23 College Football Coaching Carousel
He keeps winning and filling that stadium like it was Saturday and he won't even be 2nd fiddle. The guy can coach.

With him they can. Of course they have to keep him to find out.tulaneoutlaw wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 3:28 pm Can you win the new B12 conference regularly at Kansas? I'm not so sure. If I look at Wisconsin and realize they fired MID SEASON a guy who accomplished as much as he did there, considering they are friggin' wisconsin, I'd determine they have nebraska syndrome and avoid at all costs so long as I had other options

They've had sanctions before. Kentucky has had sanctions. Nothing will stop them from being basketball schools.PeteRasche wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 11:42 amUnless the NCAA actually acts on all the known violations...ml wave wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 11:14 amYes, he can coach. Well they just drew three times more fans for the football game than they can draw for a basketball game. Will it be known as a basketball school sure but like I said IF he stays it won't mean he has to play second fiddle to it. I never said it would be a football school or surpass it but it doesn't have to be second fiddle.ml wave wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 11:14 amYes, he can coach. Kansas FB will never surpass Kansas MBB.

What do you think being second fiddle means in this context?wavedom wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 12:51 pmWell they just drew three times more fans for the football game than they can draw for a basketball game. Four interim head coaches won yesterday (Joseph, Key at Ga Tech, Aguano at Arizona State, and Leonhard at Wisconsin) Is that some kind of record? Wait, it’s five because UAB’s coach is termed an interim HC though I think he’s the most likely to get the permanent gig where he’s at, even more than Leonhard.
