Re: Bowling Finishes #15 in NTCA Final Rankings

Look at those teams. We should have a shot at a NC. At least make the tourney (which we never have). "Look at those teams"? It's women's bowling. With the weird exception of Vandy (Tennessee gonna Tennessee?), they're not exactly Harvard 1%er demographic schools ... which aligns with bowl...

Beaten? Geez, probably 1 in the last 40+ years, possibly longer. Now, "played against", you might get a few, going back to the 50s or 60s or so.

Re: is it time for the Old Yeller chat in re this forum?

Literally the thing I like best about bulletin boards like this vs. all of those other options is the lack of ads. Pretty much every other place has ads either on the sides, at the top and/or bottom, and even floating between threads as if they are threads themselves. The ads on gotula (and floating...

Re: Charlotte 49ers scale back stadium

And just like that, there are rumors that a G5 playoff is being discussed, being thrown out on Twitter. The P2 really can't stomach the idea of giving even one spot to a G5, even though they're already getting more money per appearance than even the other P conferences.

Re: Charlotte 49ers scale back stadium

We've seen the overall AP voter bias against G5s (hello, Lubbock) over the past two years as we've been a poll contender and have been paying close attention. We've seen how P2 teams who are CFP contenders but have "meh" opponents left on their schedule magically find those opponents squea...

Re: is it time for the Old Yeller chat in re this forum?

if the blackouts annoy you too much, stop coming, that's clearly the approach some others are taking, I think it's more that they're trying to visit and can't. It's not that the whole site is out, it's that it's only out for some people and only out in some access platforms. If you try on your phon...

Re: Charlotte 49ers scale back stadium

Charlotte plays JMU, UNC, Indiana, Memphis and Tulane among others. Go undefeated with that schedule and they will be hosting a CFP game. No they won't. No G5 will host without beating a top 5 blue blood and having that blue blood then go 11-1. Despite the opening being created for a G5, the new CF...

Re: Tulane (Football) Portal Tracker

Here's a piece on Traynor. FYI. https://www.on3.com/transfer-portal/news/tulane-wr-terez-traynor-re-enters-ncaa-transfer-portal/ A surprising number of words for someone with such an insignificant career. Probably more words than Traynor had receiving yards in his career. But I guess it got us to s...

Re: Tulane (Football) Portal Tracker

More to come with some shockers perhaps It's the day after spring game weekend. I'm sure everyone had a day off yesterday while the coaches talked to all the visitors and got an idea of who was a legit possibility to get. With knowledge of how many spots those guys would take up, they then likely c...

Re: Tulane wins the series at FAU 9-5

Nice turnout of Wave fans. Very hot but a great ending. The FAU announcers remarked that the Tulane fans were out in force. Gloor tweeted a compilation of him calling every run-scoring play from the tying error onward, and you can hear the Hullabaloos from the crowd all the way up through his mic.

Re: FTW NIL needs a Memphis Fed Ex Style Deal

I think there are quite a few wealthy alumni who are engaged with the university, just not athletics. That's the problem you have when you had decades and decades of athletic incompetence: thousands of grads with zero fond memories of anything athletic. The Yahoo! guys gave a huge donation to the sc...

Re: Baseball Threads

Obviously you know how I voted since I started that "humble request" thread. I did have a suggestion in my most recent post there about how a single-series thread could go, but it's still not ideal. Either way, if there's so little interest in baseball, it doesn't really matter b...

Re: A humble request

I started combining the baseball threads because I figured it was better to have a thread for the whole series rather than a thread per game plus, they don’t get a lot of traffic anyway. It was mostly so the whole series could be discussed in one place. I change the title to show the latest result ...

Re: A humble request

And I started getting the Apache/Ubuntu error on my phone Friday. What does that mean? Either there are still issues with the server or the software (as we know, phpBB is like circa 2001 tech), or we're still continuing to get massive bot attacks on the site (as jTs indicated was the case in that o...

A humble request

Can we please give games and notable news events their own threads (instead of changing thread subject lines or burying further news within existing threads)? Why the trend lately to keep editing an existing thread instead of starting a new one? Are we suddenly on a thread limit diet around here? Ar...

Re: FTW NIL needs a Memphis Fed Ex Style Deal

As far as football is concerned this will likely not give them an advantage largely because they cate more about basketball. A good chunk of that would go towards basketball. Except the news announcement specifically said they will focus on football first, then MBB and WBB, then others. As for thei...

Re: Tulane (Football) Portal Tracker

Saw this on Twitter from the Uptown Update guys. It's a list of players we are reportedly targeting or interested in from the portal. Re: New AAC Commissioner on Men's Hoops

Another angle to look at is that we can easily tell the ACC that had we been making the same as those schools we would have made changes to a few coaching positions. And that's exactly what we will do. Plus, they're not dumb, they know basketball is an easy fix (less players), and they know how muc...

Holloway is going to Samford (apologies if that was posted elsewhere already). He'll at least get good coaching.

Without going through records on the internet, I can't think of any freshmen that Hunter has given significant minutes except Sion James. Am I missing any?

I'm not sure I understand the apparent push to join a soon-to-be-defunct conference. Been there, done that (Big East). Are you kidding? Do you think we'd be anywhere close to what we are now if we'd stayed in CUSA? Do you remember how bad CUSA was when we left? We would be bottom 10 in FBS almost f...

From the chat I've had with Elliott's dad on Twitter (we played against each other back in the day), I get the impression Elliott will be back. 1985 Tulane Football recruiting video

This was posted on YouTube a while ago but I don't think anyone has shared it here. I just had it suggested and it's a fascinating watch... It's a "promotional video" for Tulane football in 1985 under their energetic young coach, Mack Brown. I would lay money that this was a video put toge...

We know Pete can grab some rebounds too. Hunter doesn't want rebounding. Luckily I have three-point range so maybe there's a place for me. If Daniels and Glenn stay and start, Hunter may have his tallest lineup at Tulane sinc he arrived. Ironic, eh? Can't wait to see Hunter rotating them beca...
