Re: David Harris Talks to Guerry

. But if he had given a big rah rah speech and declared our goal is the acc and we know who are real peers are, that would turn into sometime that would fire up the Tulane community at large. Which is what we need Yeah, my "maybe it's time to be a bad neighbor" thought mentioned above... 8)

Re: David Harris Talks to Guerry

I think it was poor choice of wording within a statement that actually made sense and was reasonable. When I think of false hope in today's realignment world, I think of all the stuff we've read over the past year, regarding the PAC mess. How many times did SDSU boosters and alumni hear they were ab...

Re: NCAA increasing baseball scholarship limits to over 30

In other words, a legitimate trickle-down effect to the mid-major ranks would begin late next summer. That occurrence could also boost other levels of NCAA Baseball and the junior college ranks. Administrators and coaches expect the transfer portal to be more active than ever next summer. Wait, thi...

Re: AAC MBB Schedule Release

Safely assuming we have Hunter’s standard OOC , Tulane could win 22 or 23 games and still have a NET well outside that needed for an NCAA at-large or even NIT bid. Does Harris even damn that with faint praise? Courtesy of portal fueled by one-and-done, the vast majority of D1 MBB teams could turn o...

Re: David Harris Talks to Guerry

He's right about the main decisions happening in private, but I sure wish he hadn't said the bit about creating false hope. We could always use hope. He is right, but as I pointed out in the realignment thread, most of the schools that have been public jerks and proclaimed they wanted out of the AA...

Bad week for celebrities

We always had RIP threads for various folks here... either those have died (no pun intended) from lack of traffic here or this week has had too many to mention. In less than a week, we lost Dr. Ruth, Richard Simmons, Shannon Doherty, Bob Newhart, and newsman Lou Dobbs. I once met Simmons in the Quar...

And best of luck to Ibieta. Dude had the worst run of luck and contributed in every way he could. Hope the final injury recovery is going well +1 I hadn't heard this until now and I thought people had mentioned him being in the QB room in the Spring. Maybe that was just guessing. Regardless, I hope...

Perfect for a winning conference record and a contract extension.
If Rick Dickson were still AD and Scott Cowen still president, you'd be absolutely correct. Thankfully neither are still in those positions.

We haven't had a men's swim team since it was cut to allow basketball to return after the scandal.

Re: ACC Realignment Megathread

The funny part is where all these university presidents and other unnamed, anonymously-quoted, high-up administrators act like these decisions aren't 100% made by ESPN and Fox. If ESPN wanted the SEC to take FSU and Clemson, ESPN would be like "you're taking FSU and Clemson and we're paying you...

Saw on Twitter (because I certainly hadn't remembered) that he'd previously been drafted in the 12th out of HS. Hopefully the fact he dropped 6 rounds is motivation to come back to Tulane next year.

Re: MLB Draft

98% of players drafted in the top 10 rounds sign. I'm sure the percentage for college players is higher than that of high school players. I don’t think it is anywhere near that high. Especially now with the new slot rules. Especially with NIL where some might get more than that in NIL on top of get...

Re: Tulane becoming nationally relevant?

AngryWave should be accompanied by a female Poseidon (Amphitrite?). Have annual tryouts within ShockWave to select the yearly winner. I think it’s a no-brainer. Interesting idea. I can't think of any other schools that have a female mascot - seems like if it's a human character at all (most aren't)...

The P2 wouldn't stand pat. They can pretty much have any team they want at any time, simply by offering them multiples of what they're getting per year. They've already made it clear in the media, based on quotes from various people during the CFP expansion, that they have no intent any longer of co...

This confirms we aren't planning to make the ncaa tournament any other way than by winning the conference tournament. Was that really in doubt? Here's another interesting tidbit I've uncovered. What do the following numbers have in common? 28, 16, 100, 118, 134, 98, 133, 120, 131, 61, 102. These are the SP+ rankings of the 11 FBS defenses we face this year in order of schedule. If our offense clicks at all, we should absolutely lay waste t...
