Re: Indoor Practice Facility: Delay Cannot Be Money. Is it just logistics?

Was there a date ever given for when the work was scheduled to start on this. I just realized we are already in June so it’s technically summer, academically speaking. TULANE WAS SUPPOSE TO START RIGHT AFTER GRADUATION....THAT WAS 2-3 WEEKS AGO. ANOTHER BROKEN PROMISE? HOPE NOT. THIS COACH WILL NEV...

Re: Baseball season ends 17-7

ECU's #2 starter in the portal. Maybe Rasmussen can make a call? I feel like the only way the two of them don't talk about it is if they actively dislike each other. Even if he has his heart dead-set on going to a "bigger" program than ours, if the two of them are on good terms, it's got ...

Re: Corvallis Bound-Regional

I had seen somewhere that the game was moved to ESPN2. However, I am watching Coastal C vs Vandy and the little ticker in the upper left corner still indicates the Tulane game will be on ESPNU. I wish there was some firm clarification which network will carry the game. Probably a lazy mistake by wh...

Nice upgrade! Way more people have ESPN2 than ESPNU. I recently talked with a Tulane football fan who had no idea ESPNU even existed, despite us having multiple games on there the past few years.

Wilson Center Renovations

I don't remember hearing many details about the Wilson Center renovation, but I came across pretty much every detail in the city permits they filed. Here's the full page: https://onestopapp.nola.gov/PrmtView.aspx?ref=6UAM1C . There's a lot on the documents tab, but the 3rd one under "Optional S...

Re: Charlotte 49ers scale back stadium

Carolina, I see where you live in Davidson. What a beautiful area that is! I lived in Waxhaw for two years and loved it. Work took me back to Houston and this is where I will be anchored for life. But I certainly miss the Charlotte area. we probably discussed this, but I lived in Marvin until summe...

I feel like it's not asking that much that we have a successful football program AND halfway decent basketball and baseball programs, but somehow we only ever seem to get one of three at a time.

Re: New AAC Commissioner on Men's Hoops

Same place we were in December. Top 2 or 3, maybe even #1, depending on who's asking. Remember, while it's been a depressing four months, they don't actually care about MBB or BSB. I mean, a winning program is nice lagniappe, but a losing one isn't a showstopper. For one thing, if we get in the ACC...

Re: Indoor Practice Facility: Delay Cannot Be Money. Is it just logistics?

I know the plans are for suites in the north endzone, but if they completely revamped Reilly, they could incorporate something in the south endzone. They could even have some flex space that's accessible from both the stadium and from Reily. The gym is always closed during home football games, so t...

Re: Indoor Practice Facility: Delay Cannot Be Money. Is it just logistics?

Reimagining that entire part of campus seems to me the only way we're ever going to significantly alter the facilities situation, but it would be a huge project. Personally, I think the Aron apartments should be grouped into that re-do, if not Willow too (which are now Decou-Labat). It would probabl...

Re: New College Football Super league ?

As bad as this is this is wildly more workable than most imagined versions of the super league. They are getting right: 1) The number, which doesn't totally block the Tulane's of the world 2) the need for relegation What they are missing is how equitable that relegation should be. Having the ten G5...

Baseball/football alum sports drink business

Thought this was a neat piece today about Jason Navarro, former Tulane baseball and football player, who's running a sports drink company and has now teamed up with Abita to can their products. Sounds like it's a pretty sizable business. https://www.nola.com/news/business/ex-tulane-player-abita-brew...

How many people do we need to fit for convocation ? Convocation already happens in McAlister Auditorium. It's students only, so it works fine. Commencement is going back to the Superdome after renovations are done. That's been super popular since the start, and they only did Yulman for commencement...

Re: CFP 2024

There was some discussion today on the cover 3 podcast about the possibility of an rpi or NET like system for choosing at large bids down the line. Since 12 trams now get in, there are far fewer spots in the top 25 that can be used to justify good wins or losses. If you want credit for beating #26,...

Yeah, I saw that. What confused me is that the 247sports website rankings themselves kept showing us as #3 in the AAC. I did find a toggle that changes it from "recruit" to "overall" and jumps us in 1st though. Kind of a weird nomenclature, but I got it now!

I don't doubt this is true (and I've seen it mentioned elsewhere), but I can't find any list that backs this up. Do you have a link you could share? When I go to 247's website and look at 2024 recruiting rankings, we're still sitting in the 60s in all ranking types and 3rd in conference. I just wann...

Re: "Shirtless Tulane Fan Shoves Memphis Basketball Player Storming Court Wild Scene""

Everything like this is going to be a bit under a microscope for a while post Caitlin Clark, and, honestly, if fans can stay where they belong (in the stands) except after true program changing wins (eg the 3022 aac championship) it’s for the better. That's entirely understandable, and I think it w...

I literally came here to see if y'all were talking about it yet, because I just heard about this and watched the ESPN video that adds this big arrow pointing to a student, and I see VERY little to be concerned about at all, and if anything it kind of looked like he was patting him on the shoulder in...

Wonder if that Contract has clauses in it concerning 'improper recruiting actions'? If so, the leaving party(s) to it may have already violated the contract, prior to being fired. No one is getting fired. Do you realize what a big stink that would cause? It wouldn't take that anyway, if they were a...

Re: Indoor Practice Facility: Delay Cannot Be Money. Is it just logistics?

Yeah just when the weather's bad, but I'm guessing it'll be good to have additional practice space in certain circumstances when they may want to use two separate fields at the same time, since the practice field is getting replaced by the football operations building. Kaare says the bubble will be ...
