Commitment from 4 Star QB Ty Keyes!

Post by purplehaz3 »

Ty Keyes, 4 star Pro style QB from MS just announced his commitment to Tulane... holds offers from Auburn, Oregon, Kansas, Ole Miss, MS State and a few others. Top 20 QB nationally and 5th rated prospect out of Mississippi. This has Will Hall all over it. Are we now a destination for some of these top recruits?

Gee whiz. When Twitter started tipping its hand about a new MS commitment I did not look that high up the lists.

His film makes him look like a rich man's Keon Howard (Howard was a well thought of recruit). He doesn't play at the highest levels in his state but he dominates where he's at. He's too good to need to make a "dinner reservation" commitment. Maybe he's just trying to shut our coaches up.

I read somewhere that Keyes is also pals with Kanarius Johnson from Mississippi, the Wave's recent WR commit.

I realize the pros are starting to transition to running QBs, but the tweets I saw call him a dual threat. Seeing that Auburn and Oregon want him tells me he will fit our offense nicely.

I’m guessing he’s a 2021 recruit. Now we need to hold on to him and Will Hall

Loving this from the scouting report: "Projects as an impact upper tier Power 5 starter at the college level."

"With the players they have now, I feel like they are going to win championships, and I'm going to try to lead them to more championships," Keyes said. "I am going to help them recruit other players to come to Tulane."

Awesome

Right now, he's just looking for somewhere that will give him the best opportunity. He says Indiana, Tulane and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette are the clubhouse leaders for his services.
sounds like it was not a total shocker.

3-star DE/ATH Barylre Davenport (who has Tulane in his top 3 with Vandy and Kansas) tweeted the big eye emoji (or whatever it's called) as a response to Keyes's commitment tweet.

I think we are going to start seeing a lot more top tier guys look at the program. Will Hall and Fritz have a great reputation and having a couple of guys drafted helps too.

Article from a national writer for The Athletic (not by a Tulane beat writer) on Keyes's recruitment. In short, it was COVID. Fritz excels in virtual recruiting. Writer is very complimentary of Fritz and staff but still says in effect that MLTN, Keyes ends up at a P5 school.

However writer does note that if Keyes does sign with Tulane and play here, he is a potential program changer.

Behind a paywall.

i got to meet him once a few years back. WF is a very likable man and I could see how we would do well in virtual recruiting.

what does MLTN, he ends up at a P5 school mean?

well, hopefully not. I hope WF is selling him on the fact that he could be a program changer/legend at Tulane.
