Core's bio on the Tulane web site says he was promoted from volunteer asst. to full-time last month.
"Adam Core is in his second season with the Green Wave baseball team. He was promoted from Volunteer Assistant to assistant coach in May of 2022. Core's roles included being the primary catching coach and assisting with hitters and the offense." Guess that could be a temporary promotion after Jewett got axed or he's going to be the second full-time asst. for the 2023 season as suggested by a recent post in this thread.

No reason to believe otherwise. He is listed as the hitting coach on the school site with Frankie Niemann as a student assistant.

one thing that seems a bit off is that the Tulane website says Core was made assistant "to assist with hitting" and that this took place in May. Of course, Uhlman wasn't named head coach til early June; so how could Core be promoted in May when the guy doing the promoting wasn't even head man until early June. The website also still shows Latham's photo and bio as the Wave's pitching coach. So, not crystal clear.

That is odd. Maybe when Jewett was let go they gave Core a promotion

This ... they were a coach short and needed to be able to recruit. Not sure it's permanent.

I asked Guerry Smith and he said Core is not the new hitting coach.

It's typical Tulane. They don't keep the site updated. Nothing more.

Just to think Sean Allen was a serious candidate for this position and was fired less than 24 hours after Texas took the company plane back to Austin. Wonder if Pierce called Dannen with a major endorsement during the process.

Back in the day, heard Tubby Smith wanted Finney gone and told Tulane he was one of the best assistants he ever had.

Makes you wonder how many of these AD’s have fallen for the bait at Tulane.

Hard to believe less than twelve months ago he was the D1Baseball Assistant of the Year..

LW, so true.

I know both coaches fairly well and this was shocking news in Texas. I feel Sean was put in a bad situation. He was a hitting coach and a recruiter. Pierce let Coach Haig go about 3 years ago and hired Troy Tulowitzki as hitting and defensive instructor. He bumped Sean to recruiting coordinator and pitching coach. Pierce always handled the pitching. Sean’s background was hitting.

Turns out this past weekend saw Tulowiitzki deciding not to pursue the USC head job and resigning from Texas. Going into the baseball consulting business for now with perhaps coming back to college baseball in the near future.

Sounds like a big mess for a school that has gone to 3 World Series under Pierce.

I believe Philip Miller, the other assistant, is Pierce's nephew.
