Jake Rogers Tommy John
Jake had TJ surgery yesterday. Tough break as he was getting pretty regular playing time.
Wandering around somewhere in a matchup zone
Re: Jake Rogers Tommy John
Gerry, that is a bad break indeed. Jake was hitting around .240 and as usual, his defense was off the charts. It will be about a year of recovery. He will come back stronger than ever.
Re: Jake Rogers Tommy John
Jake was cementing himself as the #1 backstop for Detroit when he got hurt. I had been following fairly closely and looking forward to wearing my slugger bird jersey during their trip to Cincinnati last weekend and hopefully catching his eye (and maybe a ball for my kids )
In addition to the .240 average (which is very good for a catcher of his defensive caliber) he also had 6 dingers in 38 games which equates to about 25 home runs in a full season. Considering his bat has been his Achilles heel in the past, he was putting up numbers good enough to slot in at DH on occasion. He even threw in a stolen base!
He'll likely miss all of 2022, so let's hope he can pick up where he left off in 2023.
