Game 3 vs. Wichita St. moved to 11 a.m. Sat.
Tulane goes for win no. 3 on the weekend, now at 11 a.m. first pitch on Saturday.
Re: Game 3 vs. Wichita St. moved to 11 a.m. Sat.
Kind of odd considering the local news channels are calling for possible severe weather until 1pm.

actually the latest forecast shows rain chances picking up later in afternoon and then on into the evening; so 11 a.m. start is right on target with highest probability of getting the game in and done.

Apparently, ESPN+ lost the handle during the time change. We still show up on their schedule at the original time.

it’s raining now, and according to future cast radar, will clear out between 12 and 12:30. good news is no thunder, so they can play in this.

FWIW, typically those making the call are in touch with local weather folks who are giving them real-time updates, and the stuff the public sees online and on apps is typically behind and/or outdated. When there are thousands of dollars involved (as there are with any NCAA sporting event), those making the call are doing something more than checking the local news app. They're on the phone with an actual meteorologist.
I've listened to broadcasts of Cincinnati Reds games where a game was delayed while there was nothing but a sprinkle... radio announcer says a storm is on the way... you look at weather.com radar "future" prediction and there's nothing... Then right when they say something would happen, a pop-up storm appears from nowhere and blows through for 10 minutes. None of the weather prediction maps had it... but someone was talking to someone who knew it was going to occur. And waddaya know, you look at the radar after the fact (past radar) and see that storm cell pop up out of nowhere. The public would have never known. Similarly I've seen huge cells headed towards games and there is no stoppage... As the cell nears, it falls apart into thin air.
The real question is why, with today's technology, the public can't get this info too.

the WWL app is pretty accurate. the only thing it can’t see is the unexpected pop up shower. last night the showers were forming on the westbank, and then rolling across the river.
I get what you are saying. a person can explain on the nuances that the public won’t see on radar

You think it will be two 7-inning games now?
Re: Game 3 vs. Wichita St. moved to 11 a.m. Sat.
I guess that will depend on WSU’s travel plans.

So now there's only one game left, and we already trail 1-0 and they've got the bases loaded? That kind of puts a damper on the Sunday.
However, at least we have clinched a series win.

no thunder, and it looks like an hour or 2 break, I guess they felt it would have been too rough to stay at the park? or too difficult on pitching?
Re: Game 3 vs. Wichita St. moved to 11 a.m. Sat.
Seems like starting game 3 at 3:00, like I said they should, may have worked out. At least with a game being cut we have additional pitching available.
Any chance we can say we are playing game 4 and will resume game 3 if time permits?

Is this game a scratch or do restart it trailing?
Re: Game 3 vs. Wichita St. moved to 11 a.m. Sat.
I’m 90% sure it’s a continuation of the Saturday game.
On one hand, it means we have burned our starter while they will have their’s.
OTOH, it means we have won the series.

plus, given our, ahem, questionable pitching depth, i think 3 games playes to our advantage - although it is no fun we are starting the game losing and with the potential to be down more
Re: Game 3 vs. Wichita St. moved to 11 a.m. Sat.
It will pick up where we left off according to the Tulane website. Get the brooms out.
We deserve so much better
Re: Game 3 vs. Wichita St. moved to 11 a.m. Sat.
Don’t understand why they are not playing 2 tomorrow. Start the first game at 9:30, and play a 7 inning game 30 minutes after. This 4 game schedule on the weekend is being pathetically mismanaged by the powers that be.

Two outs
Runners on First and third.

The league said all games will be 9 innings. It's not a Tulane decision.

The league should be more flexible on that when there’s weather like this.
Who’s decision is it that no game can start before 11:30 tomorrow? Who’s decision was it to try to play at 11 today? There were better windows to try to get the game in.

Maybe we're happy with a 2-0 weekend with our best pitchers having pitchedvisualmagic wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 12:09 amThe league should be more flexible on that when there’s weather like this.

Re: Game 3 vs. Wichita St. moved to 11 a.m. Sat.
Wavedom, are you saying given all the sequence of events this weekend, the league office would not allow us to play four games due to league rules. Be specific. What times can we play, how many innings can we play, can we play after a specific time of the day, can we play on Thursday night, can we play after midnight, can we just friggen play.
