In B1 TUlane knocks the cover off the ball three times, but goes 1-2-3.
Cardednas pitching for FIU today was the final pitcher for them last night. Alemais was the last batter he faced last night and the first he faced today. Circle this day on your calendar.

Re: Tulane-FIU - Game 3
I wonder also. Randy attracts a lot of scouts when he pitches. I'd say he goes first and fairly high - maybe round 3-7. Then K-Mac if he can assure everyone that he's 100 percent. Maybe round 10-12. Then Mapes around 15. But I have no idea. I know MLB loves pitchers, and Randy's topping out around 96mph. K-Mac rolls a lot of ground balls.Yankeewave wrote:wonder where Kmac and randy get drafted...thinking mapes has a shot too

Re: Tulane-FIU - Game 3
Heck of a play by Willsey to close out the 3rd. Graff's description didn't do it justice. He raced probably 60 feet toward the opponents bullpen and caught it over the shoulder with his back to the plate and the wind blowing the ball away from him. Great play!!

Cardenas is throwing a perfect game so far. After three innings, FIU leads 1-0.

Social butterfly, Al Hoffman, makes an appearance on All-Access.
Meanwhile, Mapes sends the Panthers down in order. The middle batter hit Mapes in the navel with a line drive. The ball dropped at his feet, so Mapes picked it up and threw to first for the out. Then he walked off the pain a little while.
New pitcher for FIU, as they're throwing Johnny Wholestaff today.

BTW, in the third, the unearned run scored on Tulane's record-setting 62nd DP of the season.

Re: Tulane-FIU - Game 3
FIU pulled a "TUlane" in T5. They had runners at second and third with no outs and didn't score. Mapes coaxes to comebackers to the mound and one-hopper to Garrett at first.
Still 1-0. Great pitching when he had to from Mr. Mapes!!!

With two outs, Jake Rogers walked to break up the perfect game. Then Kaplan broke up the no-hitter with a single to left. Then Willsey singled up the middle to break up the shutout. Then he was thrown out at second base.
1-1 after five.

Re: Tulane-FIU - Game 3
Two controversies in the 6th, and Garrett was involved in both. In the top half a batter hit a slow bounder down the first-base line and Garrett charged to get the ball before it went foul. First-base ump called the ball fair. Garrett stepped on the bag for the out. But, no! The home plate ump overruled and recalled Tulane to the field. Ultimately, the batter struck out, so no harm. Gaut went ballistic!
Then Garrett hit a slow grounder down the third-base line and beat it out, but the first-base ump called him out. Gaut went ballistic!
1-1 after six.

Hope leads off the 7th with a double, after the Moms sang a stirring rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."
Grant Brown failed to sac and then struck out.
Garner grounds back to pitcher. Hope advances to third.
Rogers pops up to second baseman.
Still 1-1 after 7.

FIU fails to score in 8th. Mapes still in. Close to 100 pitches after the 8th.
Go get 'em, Wave!

Re: Tulane-FIU - Game 3
By the way, FIU's head coach is Turtle Thomas who was fired by Jim Morris (Rick Jones' former boss at Ga Tech) at Miami for being a d-bag. Anyone want to guess where he went to be an assistant next?

Gibaut in for Tulane to pitch the 9th.
3 up, 3 down.
Going to B9. How about another walk-off win, Wave?

Walk-off the season.
That is the icing on the DP record.
This one belongs to the Wave.
And Wave remains undefeated, so far, for the 2015 season.

Alemais lifts a long fly to left that was misplayed. Stephon didn't sprint out of the box, so he only makes it to second.
Garrett sacs him to third.
Hunter lays off a low outside curve that he's chased 50 times this year and strokes the next pitch into right field for the game-winning hit. It's a walk-off season.
Wave wins 2-1
