Regarding Fickle, it’s going to be a lot easier to keep him now that he will have a legitimate shot at playing for a NC (once the move is official).
Maybe, but highly unlikely and improbable. The new B12 will be lucky to keep its P5 status and UC will have to go undefeated to even have a chance. No room for error. Always, ALWAYS, second best in Ohio. He'll jump at the right opportunity which, if Day loses 2 more this season, may be his chance. I would be willing to bet heavily that he will not play the first game as UC's HC in the B12.
Couldn't agree more. Osu would be Fickells dream job. I think he would take PSU (if Franklin left for usc) or Michigan too. He would do well at USC on the field, but he's a staunch Catholic family man, so I don't really know how well that fits out there

For whatever it's worth, the more I see of Fickell around here on the news and the more I hear about him from local fans and boosters, the more likely I think it is that he sticks around a while at Cincinnati, especially now that they will be in the Big 12. For a while there it appeared they were doomed to get kicked from P autonomy, but all reports as they added these four are that they have full blessings of the other conferences to keep all the spoils. That being the case, he might literally stay here until Ohio State opens up someday. If he puts Cincinnati at the top of the Big 12 - and they certainly would be right with OU if they joined today - there is no longer a reputational impediment to the CFP. Plus with the Big 12 looming, I suspect if Cincinnati goes NY6 this year his salary at UC will jump massively to ensure he stays a while.

Of course I would never have expected Mick Cronin and Chris Mack, two local guys, to ever willingly leave UC and XU basketball, but money and power conference status is a powerful siren call. So who knows.

I forget that he’s going into a watered down Big12. Their money will likely be reduced so even salaries won’t be comparable between a place like Ohio State and Cincinnati. (Just as coaches salaries will be hard to maintain in the new AAC).

Urban Meyer said there is “no chance” that he takes the USC job which probably means there is a chance that he does.

that's maybe less than half the story haha

seems the decision had to do more with the less-than-ideal optics of a starter doing this on camera before a game

Wow. I thought it was based on performance/record. That’s not a good look.

Reason 10,001 why it sucks to be a college coach.

I mean really, I bet no coach has ever had to give a speech in the locker room where he has to tell the kids "please don't stand on the bus, grab a tossed beer, and chug it before a game."

Navy just fired a coach who won't get vaccinated... he tried to claim religious exemption, to no avail.
Did not know this angle. Assumed it was because the offense has been dreadful for two straight seasons.
Y'all are conflating stories.

The AD fired the OC without the HC's permission, and then agreed to re-hire him as QB coach and let the HC double as OC.

Separately, the AD fired a position coach for no vax

I mean, sure, the beer chugging is bad. But why the hell is a kid on top of the bus in the first place? At least one adult was surely aware of that.

7 college football coaches on the hot seat

1 current AAC coach and 2 former, 3 if you count Manny Diaz. Plus, Ed Orgeron whose team currently leads Florida at home 21-6.

An Ole Miss grad/fan at work thinks it’s very possible Kiffen leaves OM to take the lsu job if offered. I don’t think he’s at the top of their list.

For the same reason, though. They wouldn't follow the rules set forth by their employer. They have a right to not get a shot. They don't have a right to work for any particular employer.

It's not just any employee. Its the state. It's creating a state segregated workforce. The point is Rolo is not the exception, he is part of half of the staff that was fired.

So, he wasn't singled out in any way? Treated like any other employee? That should do wonders for his lawsuit.
