For his addiction to tripping (not on acid)

Interesting how Coach K handles this. Allen is (was after last night?) a first round NBA draft choice talent. Coach K has been accused of "coddling" special talent. Let's see if three times is beyond the pale even for him.

Also if Allen ever does do this to an NBA player a riot might break out literally.

He has now been supsnded.

He should now be known as GTA3

Grayson "Tripping" Allen 3

If he does it again he will be GTA4 and so on.

Suspended indefinitely....which probably means until 1159 on 12/31. Their next game is 1200 on 12/31, their ACC opener against VT.

"Special" talent is all relative...

I saw a clickbait headline (which I didn't click) "Is Allen the most hated Duke player ever?".

Um, until he stomps on an opponent's chest and gets away with it, then knocks out Big Blue Nation from the Elite 8 with a free throw line jumper off a 3/4-court inbounds pass... no, he is not the most hated Duke player ever.

Laettner was calculated, and he embraced it.

This kid seems out of control.

I understand where you're coming from but since VT is Duke's next game, I can't see Coach K suspending a guy for a week of basketball practice. If so, that would truly be a teaching moment.

cynics are saying he'll be back in time for the Louisville game. That would mean a 4 game suspension (I think)

BTW, I'm a big Duke fan. For what that's worth.

Not even close. As with any successful program, they have tons of bandwagon fans who have never even set foot in Durham. I know plenty here. Some picked Duke simply to oppose the multitudes of UK fans in this area.

to clarify, I'm a big FAN of Tulane Basketball. But I've liked Duke for a very long while. In part because I admire Coach K and in part because I admire Duke's academics. I like seeing a top tier academic school that can also play at a very high level. And I've come to like watching the intense dislike Duke Basketball seems to bring out in some people.

I think you read way more vitriol into my post than intended, sr. But I didn't read any sarcasm in your (original) post, it sounded like you really thought that. So, you can relax.

Duke has fans everywhere, but I'd agree there are also probably more specific haters of Duke across the country than any other college hoop program. Most programs have fans, and others just dislike them (rival school's fans) or are indifferent otherwise. But very few schools cause such widespread, actual hatred as Duke. Of course their fans relish it, because you generally don't get to that point unless you've been extremely successful for a long time.

if UNC had shrubbed Ga Tech... he serves one more game... but Duke panicked after Tech upset UNC.. they didn't want to hand over another ACC loss

as it turns out, all of the Duke starters could have sat out... they crushed Ga Tech

Sports guys (national) this morning were commenting how tripping is an unsportsmanlike penalty in football (no game suspension) and in hockey a 2 minute penalty (minor infraction). Observing at how much hand wringing is going in here in comparison.

Grayson also lost his "Captaincy" for what that's worth.

Yeah, but remember GB that those other sports you mentioned the players are protected by pads, pads and more pads plus helmets and are coined 'violent sports'. Basketball is thought to be a non-violent, non-contact sport ...

plus his last infraction was akin to a spoiled little kid tripping his friend after he stole his lollipop

Allen adds to his highlight reel - pushed FSU assistant coach while going out of bounds.

This isn't nice to say, but what he probably needs is some 250lb bench warmer to break his nose for him.....

Live look-in at Duke practice:
