The SMU players that haven’t quit are trailing UCF 3-0 in the 1st. SMU all-everything receiver Rice caught a wide open pass on the opening drive and fumble after being crushed by 3 defenders.

SMU answered with a TD now leads 7-3

SMU takes a 13-10 lead into halftime

UCF leads 17-13 and their stadium is pretty empty by their standards.

I don’t know if the players opting out played into it, but SMU looks very beatable. I can’t tell if SMU is just that bad, or if UCF is just unstoppable. If Plumlee gets hurt, UCF’s backup looks pretty bad in garbage time.

Game wasn’t even as close as the score. SMU scored a TD against UCF’s prevent defense with a lot of starters out, needing to call timeout at the 2 yd line with 3 seconds then again with 1 second left just to score a meaningless TD.

UCF winning easily. Good.
Leaky D takes its toll.
We could use a fading SMU between UCF and Cincy.

"UCF leads 17-13 and their stadium is pretty empty by their standards." Because the game was moved from Sat. to Wed. night mid-week. Thousands of ticket holders didn't show. Commentators said the crowd was about 25k, whereas it normally would have been upwards of 40k.

Memphis has moved the ball twice with ease for 2 TDs. The second after a Tune INT. I think Houston is continuing their legacy of quitting after losing to Tulane, at least mentally.

Memphis looks like they will be tough, but so far this game looks to be more of an indication of where Houston is.

Houston answers with about 6 minutes left in the half to make it 14-7 Memphis.

Houston missed a FG from about the 20 with 1 second left in the half.

Houston is stuffed on a 4th and goal from the 1. They have been inside the Memphis 5 yd line 3 times and have 7 points to show for it.

Memphis threw a double pass to start the 4th and the WR promptly throws a 41yd TD. Now 26-7 after missing the 2pt conversion try. 14:50 left in the game.

Hey Big 12, you can come get them now.

After a Memphis FG, Houston returned the kick 100 yds for a TD. The 2pt try was no good. Memphis leads 29-19 with 7:47 left

Houston scored with 1:17 left to make it 32-26 Memphis. Houston recovered the onside kick. Scored with 18 seconds left to take a 33-32 lead.

That one is gonna linger for Memphis. They hadn’t really put a foot wrong before tonight.

UH would never have been out of it if they had cashed in those red zone opportunities.

I agree. That was a weird game in that it wasn’t as close as the score, but shouldn’t have been as bad as it was for most of the game.

I was starting to think Memphis was really good until I realized Houston was on the verge of quitting. Houston is who Memphis thought they were and let them off the hook.

Let's not forget that Memphis messed around with Temple and was down 3-0 at half before some fortunate turnovers in the second half let them pull away. They also played a tossup game with North Texas. I don't think this is 2017 Memphis we are dealing with.

Agree outlaw. Memphis is not a good team. Very beatable.

Cincinnati was losing 24-21 in the 4th quarter before scoring and holding on. They are beatable. Even last year, their defensive weakness was against the run (we ran decently against them even with them keying on the run with Horton at QB), but this year they are weaker overall and their offense is less potent.

Their next two games are at SMU and at UCF (two teams we get at home). I predict Cincinnati loses one of those. The door is going to open for Tulane, we just have to keep it up.

I’m wondering if them playing a close game this week will open USF to a big letdown.

Had the same thought. Provided we come with the same level of intensity that's a possibility

I enjoy it. WaveProf used to do it and I knew he had a lot going on still getting his house back in shape so I decided to do it. I like to be able to look back and see how opponents did each week and it gives us a place to discuss the other conference games each week.
