AAC Conference Tournament
Re: AAC Conference Tournament
I know that. It still doesn’t make sense until you know who the new coach is.

Siegel left already. He’s not even at the game. So as of right now

Only Siegel of this group showed much. He is also injured. Are we sure he left and the doctor didn’t just tell him to take it easy at home?

Re: AAC Conference Tournament
If TU gets a very good coach, then Siegel, Massey and Marget may think twice about leaving, and stay at TU.
Re: AAC Conference Tournament
Good point. I hate losing and especially how baseball has deteriorated. However in response, this forum has deteriorated into too often repeating and propagating at best uncomplimentary rumors and at worst unsubstantiated sleaze about those involved: “You’re a loser on the field so it must be your personality is deficient too.”
The coaching problem is being addressed. Let's hold the PTB accountable to fix it. No need to waste energy about folks that are gone whether they were pushed or jumped. I’m focused on folks who want to be at Tulane.
Meanwhile I keep Doc’s factoid about the MBB transfer portal in mind: 1/3rd of D1 players will traffic in it this offseason. That is an almost heart stopping industry stat when regular freshman student retention even at Tulane is 85 to 90%+. It’s even higher at other places. College sports is changing and not evolving. I’m just pulling for Tulane to stay ahead of the curve.

Here's what everyone needs to know regarding the portal. We will see players enter the portal because of a coaching change. It always happens. Tulane has committed that it will not reduce scholarship money to returning players as a result of the coaching change. In addition, if a player enters the portal, their aid will not be taken away if they decide to come back before a deadline they set sometime in June. A lot of times when a player enters the portal, they forfeit their scholarship, but we're keeping that line open until we can get our new coach in place and allow the players to get to know him.
In my opinion, this is the right way to handle this. You want to leave that door open if the coach comes in and the fit is right. There will almost certainly be some guys who want to move on, and that's just part of a coaching change. The more important change has already taken place. Coach Jewett got his opportunity, and it didn't work out. Let's give this next guy our support...you never know what he can do if we're all rowing in the same direction.
I'm excited to see who we hire.

I am very excited to see who we get also. I am not worried one bit about who goes at this point. The new coach will put together his roster with the players he wants and everyone will move forward on their own respective path.
Re: AAC Conference Tournament
If Wichita sweeps the doubleheader against USF (currently up 10-4 in game 1) and we lose to Memphis we will drop to 7th seed.
This would put us in the 3-4pm slot against current #2 UCF if that standing holds.

USF wins game 2 and Tulane leads 11-0 in the 5th so we are pretty much locked into the early game at 8am central time be Cincinnati. Other teams in our bracket are ECU and USF.

I've never been a believer in regular-season head-to-head results mattering once tourney play starts, but for what it's worth, #Tulane went 0-3 vs. Cincinnati, 2-1 vs. 1 seed ECU and 2-1 vs. 8 seed USF, the other teams in its bracket.

It’s a good thing I get to work at 6:30. I’ll have time to settle in before I put the game on my phone

Tulane comes in to the contest undefeated in games beginning before 10AM.
Any truth to the rumor that Ron Hunter offered to buy breakfast for both fans that will be there?

Re: AAC Conference Tournament
I will be tuning in.
Honestly, I had plans to go to the game (it's about a 4-hour drive for me), but the lackluster finish to the season and soaring gasoline prices changed my mind.
But I will be watching on ESPN+.

Re: AAC Conference Tournament
I’ve watched maybe 2 full innings since the Cincy series. I’ll check the score periodically on twitter, but I really don’t care. Wake me when we hire a real coach.

Lets just hope TU wins the tournament.
Re: AAC Conference Tournament
That's certainly a broad definition of "won."CletusRelm wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 7:53 am FWIW
The teams in TU's bracket, are the series (teams) that TU won, ie ECU, USF and Cincinnati. (except the first series to Memphis)
