Re: Epilogue
Looking at the macro view, we went 2-10 in year 6. This would be unacceptable at any program serious about football, 3 6-6 seasons in the prior years be danged. Do we want to compete for conference championships or participation trophies? Retaining this entire staff is equivalent to saying the latter.
Next year, Fritz must be on the hottest of seats. 9 wins and a breakthrough season or adios.
Oh by the way, Fritz lost another 1 score game. That puts him at 11-23 I think.

Re: Epilogue
Tulane beat the two teams on its schedule that finished with losing records. It lost to the other ten who finished at .500 or better. It lost to the three Top Ten it played. No upsets of anyone
Schedule was great and I really thought Tulane might shine this year. Instead it regressed. It was not enough good talent this season, not enough good coaching and not enough good luck.
Fritz should be on hot seat next season. Will he be? Tulane schedule will be easier too. However he works in an environment where no one in major sports wins or even competes for conference championships and it seems everyone gets extended and some with raises. All this happening under an AD who brags about spending 80% of his time on non-Tulane matters.
It looks like the Revenge of Scotty model on steroids. I have a better chance of predicting next LSU and Florida coaches then what Tulane will do next. I know Willie will work the problem. Not sure about anyone else. Not sure if Willie will solve the problem.

Re: Epilogue
how many times did we start short of the 25 when Jackson opted to run the ball back? More than I can count... any special teams coach that didn't say to him "fair catch it or you're benched" should be fired

Re: Epilogue
When will Willies press conference be released? Seems like other teams press conferences are immediately available and Tulane takes several days to release them. Strange.

Re: Epilogue
Well they can look at their potato bowl rings and feel good about celebrating that loss. The Oklahoma game went to this team's head and it seems like they thought they could just show up...and then Ole Miss curb stomped them and they never recoveredtulaneoutlaw wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 5:46 am Looking at the macro view, we went 2-10 in year 6. Re: Epilogue
For Dannen to really hold anyone accountable, he would have to be held accountable. He's hired coaches in 3 of the 4 biggest sports, and none has proven to be better than average.
This football team was coached and played like here was no sense of urgency. We tried, some tough losses, tough schedule. etc. etc. I've seen this show before, and it needs to be stopped before it festers for 1/2 a decade.
This D gave up 300/400 first half yards to ECU and UAB! So you create your own bottom-of-the-ocean bar, and then you can say how much you improved. The same defensive problems were there against Memphis (converting 3rd and long) as were there against the Curtis defenses.
On O, the line and receivers still struggle.
I don't know who, but there needs to be a lot of change. And it needs to come from CWF, not Dannen ordering it.
3 NFL owners (2 majority) on our BOT. Come on!

Re: Epilogue
I’m sure Willie knows this cannot happen again. I hope he has a plan to change things. I would love to see some huge o-lineman and a couple of quality WRs come to Tulane thru the transfer portal, Also need to look at upgrading some of the coaches. Get some guys who can teach the fundamentals better — like make your tackles and catch the damn ball.

This. Re: Epilogue
Going to be hard to recruit kids to play in the new AAC. TD wants to leave a legacy, get out of these conference now.
Re: Epilogue
That's on Fitts, as was the choice to degrade our current conference, as was the promotion of the clown whose new and creative plan to improve Tulane was to jerk up admissions standards for athletes.
Speaking of Fitts, where is he? He may be name-only at this point.

Our class looks good if we hang onto kids
Re: Epilogue
Remember when we were afraid a 6-6 season against this tough schedule wouldn’t be a sign of progress?

Re: Epilogue
All of this doom and gloom and we now have the 3rd best recruiting class in the AAC, an easier schedule, a QB with more experience, promising freshmen like Canady and hopefully no hurricane displacements and temporary moves to Birmingham. I’m positive because I don’t see Fritz having another bad year. Whether you like him or not he’s a well respected, winning head coach that turned this sinking ship around.
Re: Epilogue
3rd best by Rivals, not 247. And there is that big presumption we hold on to everyone. We shall see.
What would you grade WF this past season?
What would you grade Hunter’s efforts to date?
