Punter had a banner year. Kickoff coverage has been mostly really good w/ 4 onside recoveries. Punt returns at least mediocre. Why fire the special teams coach just because we don’t have a kicker?

What will happen is a lot of prattle. I'll be stunned if half of what needs doing gets done.

I would keep Long. It’s not his fault the WR’s can’t catch and the OL can’t pass block. Lots of times the play is there but the wr drops the ball, the qb doesn’t see the open receiver, who will likely drop in anyway, or the qb doesn’t have time to throw the ball.

Run for 300+ yards, hold them to under 100, and lose. Whatever happened to "Wave don't beat the Wave?" What has happened to Fritz-ball?

But sometimes his plays in certain situations are just horrific calls.

Nothing will happen just like baseball. They will sell Dannen on how we have a lot of youth and a good recruiting class coming in. Wr have all seen this movie before.

I would say that if we keep Long, the OL coach has to go, but unless we find someone that can recruit better players on the line does it really matter?

4 turnovers did us in. We need an upgrade at OL and WR and if a good QB comes available in the portal I’d consider looking at him.

Be honest. How many starters do you think have enough talent to start for an upper echelon conference team?

The OL wasn’t real good in Teeven’s last season, and then Bowden comes in with a hard-a$$ OL coach and the OL is very good the next 2 years.

OL was good last year. What changed?

The game -

1. Spears runs for 264.
2. We turnover the ball 4 times.
3. Memphis has no turnovers.
4. We out gain Memphis 60 yards.
5. We lose, again.

What we need -

1. A QB that runs less, throws more accurate, and values the ball in the red zone.
2, SKILL PLAYERS - QB, WR’s, DB’s. Say it over & over.
3. Kickers
4. Two new OL. Please recruit kids that can play. Our whiff rate st this and the WR position is ridiculous.
6. A new OC
7. A new OL coach.
8. A new DB coach.
9. An open QB competition.
10. A DC that understands a scheme tailored to his players.
11. PRAY our best players don’t enter the portal. Especially Spears

I will leave it here.

On offense? Wyatt, James, Spears and Haynesworth.

Defense - Anderson and Canady and maybe Jeffery Johnson.

I’m probably missing a guy or two who may be good enough to play for those teams if not start.

Sadly, you are correct. What made Pratt more promisinmg than Banks and McMillan was the suggestion by his early play that he would be a more consistant passer, but he has lapsed into the same 1 or 2 reads and scramble for the sticks thing.

While I think we could use an upgrade at the position, to be fair, a lot of his poor play comes from pressure. Some of it real, some of it phantom, all of it from poor OL play. Maybe a new QB coach is needed.

This is encouraging:

Per Guerry:
This from #Tulane's Tyjae Spears on his future plans: "Yeah, I'm coming back. We are going for the championship next season. I'm coming back."

But something I noticed during the Houston game and it has remained constant — the rhythm on the snap. Pratt calls out his signals, claps his hands, and the center immediately snapped the ball.

Houston figured this out and almost beat the snap to Pratt.

There is never a change of cadence or time between clap and snap.

Tonight I noticed Memphis used the handclap but would change the time between clap and snap.

I know this is extremely elementary but I think it’s significant.

My last footnote on tonight - three of our four turnovers were on pass plays, one on a return, zero on runs.

Spears was nearly unstoppable, except when we quit giving him the ball.

I think the fear of losing guys to the transfer portal has made Fritz soft.

He has to be recruiting/coddling everyone the entire time they are on campus (not just until they get on campus).

Need some position coaches that instill fundamentals and discipline + promote competition for every position (if they leave to transfer because they don’t like it; so be it).
