Really nice win. Team is playing well. Olthoff had a good performance and Niemann hit the ball well.

Viisual, true dat.

I would not start game 2. Could get an inning or two in and burn up both starters.

First thunderstorm over New Orleans won’t be until 4:30 according to fox8 app radar. I don’t know if those storms on the West Bank will be close enough to trigger a lightning delay though. After the brief storm at 4:30 the next thunderstorm isn’t forecast until after 7:00. Starting at 2:15 is probably a better choice or may have to wait until 5.

After game 1 our RPI is up to 70 and WSU is down to 50.

ESPN+ is still pretending that the 2nd game will be at "2:30 PM." (and that's EASTERN time)

Kocis with 10 HRs for Wichita St. didn't play in Game 1.
or pinch hit in Game 1
is he hurt?
and...Gibson -- the WSU 1B man in Game 1 who collided with Burns at home and got ejected -- is he automatically forced to the bench in Game 2 as well?

I believe that they mentioned that Kocis is hurt

Gibson was a stand-in for the injured Kocis, so they were playing their 3rd-string 1b after the ejection.

It’s starting to look like we may not get any around 4:30 like the future cast originally showed. May just have to play through off and on showers until about 6 when radar shows a large storm passing over uptown.

They really should have stuck with 45 minutes after game one....

that was my thinking. Game now postponed to 4:45 (which I also thought might happen if we waited). There is no rain over the city right now and a small storm with no thunder just passed over Kenner and appears will stay north of I10

I was hoping to see the whole game before my dinner plans with friends tonight. Not looking likely now.

This is really the best thing. Just play 2 tomorrow. Don’t want to waste your #2 guys throwing bullpens.

Only has to be within 8 miles to trigger a delay. Could be over the lake and still be too close.

They could start the first game at 3 tomorrow when thunderstorms are supposed to end. Supposed to be just rain after that point.

I either misread it or it changed again but our RPI is 78 at the moment.

SWEEP 🧹

Gillies was superb. Clutch pitching with runners in scoring position all day. Have to clean up the errors. In game two, we had 4 hits and 4 errors, but survived. I think we are clearly the 2nd best team in the league. Watch out ECU.
