2019 DB Depth Chart
2019 DB Depth Chart
The players -
SR Larry Bryant
RS SO Willie Langham
JR Jaylon Monroe
SR Sean Harper
RS SO Quentin Brown
SR P.J. Hall
SO Chris Joyce
SR Will Harper
SR Thakarius Keyes
SO Larry Brooks
JR Tirise Barge
JR Chase Kuershen
SO Macon Clark
FR Ton’quez Ball
FR Kiland Harrison
FR Tyler Judson
FR Jaquez Norman
FR Kanyon Walker
FR Levi Williams
Man, that was a lot of players. When you think back, our secondary had Lorenzo Doss, Parry Nickerson, and Donnie Lewis. Do we have anyone on this roster that will be drafted. Any ideas on the two deep depth chart. Is there an argument that this group is better/deeper than we were three years ago?

Re: 2019 DB Depth Chart
This seems to be the hardest position to predict. I would say Harper, Keyes, Barge, and Hall will be on the field. Same could be said for Monroe and several others. Any guesses to who will be the primary players. Seems like a lot of competition which is a good thing.

Re: 2019 DB Depth Chart
LCB Thakarius Keyes
RCB Willie Langham
3rd CB Jaylon Monroe or Chris Joyce
FS Tyler Judson
SS Chace Kuercherson
$ Tirese Barge / Larry Bryant
3rd Safety P.J. Hall or Macon Clark
The freshmen will play special teams and hopefully not have to contribute much, except Judson. He may already be one of the top two safeties in the program. Harrison, Walker and Norman will probably redshirt.

I agree about Langham, he seems to be the playmaker of the group. I like him a lot.

Gotta love Langham's size. He definitely has the tangibles to turn into THE guy and be drafted like his predecessors. Hopefully he continues to develop and takes a big leap this year.
Re: 2019 DB Depth Chart
Do you guys see this as a position of strength? Can they shut down UCF, Memphis, Houston, etc.?

Re: 2019 DB Depth Chart
Joyce spent some time at WR when we were short handed there early last year. It may have slowed down his development. I could see him making a real jump this spring.

Re: 2019 DB Depth Chart
tj, I think their ability to slow down the high powered teams we face is entirely dependent on QB pressure. If our d-line can get consistent pressure, and we should be able to with what we return, then the defensive backs will be able to make plays.tjtlja wrote:Do you guys see this as a position of strength?
