I assume we are still recruiting Kody Finley, 3 star WR from Ponchatoula. 24/7 lists a Tulane offer along with 5 others, including Memphis, Indiana and Kansas. He’s listed at 6’4 and even though he’s not showing an offer from them, there was speculation last year that he could end up at lsu, but with his brother (QB TJ Finley) announcing his transfer from there I wonder where we stand. We could use another tall WR.

If you take advocate interview with transferring brother at face value, Finleys may be an SEC school or bust family

I’d love to see either/both come here but that interview was not a subtle indicator of preferences. It made me think of Mr. 100 page thread topic from Zachary.

Since I rolled out the Rivals board above, I thought I would show 247’s Tulane board. 247’s filtering system is not as good as Rivals so the layout is different. These are players offered by Tulane by state. 247 does not have any 2 star ratings, and does not have a filter to eliminate committed players. So the layout below is by state, number of players offered, committed players, and the remaining are players still uncommitted with either a 4 star ranking, 3 star ranking, or not rated at all.

La 29 - 5 committed, 5 four stars, 14 three stars, 5 not rated
Tx 44 - 9 committed, 2, 16, 17
Arkansas 6, 2 committed (1 for the Wave), 0, 2, 2
Tennessee 25, 4 committed, 1, 16, 4
Alabama 14, 3 committed, 0, 4, 7
Florida 10, 3 committed (2 for the Wave), 1, 3, 3
Mississippi 14, 4 committed (3 USM), 1, 3, 0
Georgia 11, 3 committed, 0, 4, 4
South Carolina 8, 1 committed, 0, 3, 4
Ohio 7, 2 committed, 0, 3, 2
New Jersey 1, 0 committed, not rated
Virginia 1, not committed, not rated
Pennsylvania 3, 2 committed, 1, 0, 0
Indiana 6, 1 committed, 0, 3, 2
Missouri 2, 0 committed, ,0, 2, 0
Oklahoma 1, not committed, not rated
Nevada 1, not committed, 4 star
Delaware 1, not committed, not rated
Hawaii 1, not committed, 4 star

I will add up the totals by position later on. If this is too much information, please let me know. Just something I like doing.

Total number of offers = 185
Total committed = 39
Total Available = 146

Tulane Offers by Position - total offers will be the first number you will see. The second numbers is the amount of commitments from each position group which includes Tulane commitments. The final three numbers represent the star value of each uncommitted player that Tulane has offered. The first number is the four star uncommitted players, the second number is the three star players remaining, and the final number are unrated players offered that are still on the board.

QB 11 offers - 5 committed (including Haggard), uncommitted QB rankings - 0 four stars, 5 three stars, 1 not rated

Running Backs 16, 1 committed, 1, 8, 7
Offensive Line 31, 6 committed, 2, 17, 6
Tight End 15, 5 committed (including Donaldson & Siddons, 0, 7, 3
Wide Receiver 22, 3 committed, 0, 11, 8
Defensive End 16, 3 committed, 3, 3, 7
Defensive Tackle 12, 3 committed, 1, 5, 3
Linebacker 15, 3 committed, 2, 4, 6
Defensive Back 28, 8 committed, 4, 7, 9

Total offered = 166
Total Committed = 46
Total Offered Players = 120

The two groups do not reconcile, but are close enough to paint a picture of Tulane 2022 football recruiting by state, by position, by evaluation.

There are four kids from my high school alone, plus one other area kid, who have been offered by Tulane, and were recently mentioned in a local story about top 2022 recruits in Cincinnati:
https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports ... 306454002/
16. Brogan McCaughey, quarterback, St. Xavier - The 6-foot-2, 203-pound McCaughey led the Bombers to the Division I state title in his first season as a varsity starter. Along the way, he was named first-team All-Ohio by both the coaches and media. He threw for 2,708 yards and 28 touchdowns despite missing 2.5 games due to injury. He threw for a school-record 556 yards against Cleveland St. Ignatius Oct. 3. Miami University, Akron, Eastern Kentucky, Toledo, Yale, Ohio University, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Buffalo, Tulane, Columbia, Youngstown State, Fordham, Penn and Kent State have offered. McCaughey is one of three local invites to the Elite 11 regional quarterback competition that will be in Indianapolis in May.

15. Max Klare, tight end, St. Xavier - The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Klare switched from quarterback and has offers from Cincinnati, Air Force, Ball State, Bowling Green, Duke, Georgia Tech, Buffalo, Yale, Brown, Army, Penn, Eastern Michigan, Dartmouth, Air Force, Fordham, Lehigh, Navy, Liberty, Marshall, Tulane, Kent State and Eastern Kentucky. He had seven catches for 123 yards and a touchdown late in the season after being injured in the early portion of St. Xavier's championship season.

12. Brian Parker II, offensive lineman, St. Xavier - At 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds, Parker was first-team All-Ohio by coaches and media. Cincinnati, Liberty, Pitt, Eastern Kentucky, Tulane, Air Force, Ball State, Marshall, Louisville, Brown, East Carolina, Kent State and the Miami RedHawks are among Parker's offers.

10. Cameron Collins, offensive lineman, St. Xavier - The 6-foot-4, 260-pound guard was first-team Greater Catholic League-South for the 2020 Division I champions. His offers include Louisville, West Virginia, Akron, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Air Force, East Carolina, Dartmouth, Brown, Army, Navy, Ball State, Buffalo, Ball State, Penn, Appalachian State, Marshall and Toledo. (Tulane not listed here but he tweeted about it several weeks ago)

7. Ashton Craig, offensive tackle, Lawrenceburg - At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Craig has picked up offers from numerous schools including the Miami RedHawks, Boston College, Duke, Wake Forest, Cincinnati, Baylor, Indiana, Northwestern, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Yale, Tulane, Penn, Nebraska and Purdue
There is a subscribers-only story in the local paper (cincinnati.com) about how McCaughey did very well at an Elite 11 camp in Indianapolis this past weekend. It will be interesting to see if interest grows from bigger schools. However, I wonder how hard we are trying for another QB, with the commitment of Haggard.
EDIT: They just unlocked it. It says about him:
Leading the pack was St. Xavier High School's Brogan McCaughey. McCaughey traveled to the Elite 11 regional competition in Philadelphia April 25 and came away as the top-rated passer. He outpointed quarterbacks from Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Florida with a 95.22 rating, almost four points better than the No. 2 quarterback.

In his first year as a varsity starter for Coach Steve Specht's St. Xavier Bombers, McCaughey led them to the 2020 Division I state championship. Playing in 10 of their 12 games, the junior threw for 2,708 yards and 28 touchdowns. He had a school-record 556 yards passing vs. Cleveland St. Ignatius Oct. 3 and threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns in St. Xavier's running clock rout of Pickerington Central 44-3 in the state title game.

Miami University, Akron, Eastern Kentucky, Toledo, Yale, Ohio University, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Buffalo, Tulane, Columbia, Youngstown State, Fordham, Penn and Kent State have offered thus far. McCaughey has recently trained with former Cincinnati Bearcat quarterback Tony Pike, who works with several up-and-coming quarterbacks in the area.

Pete, the two sites indicate the following -

Brogan McCaughey - no offer on 247,
Max Klare - offer on 247, offer on Rivals
Brian Parker II - offer on 247, offer on Rivals
Cameron Collins - offer on 247, offer on Rivals
Ashton Craig - offer on 247, offer on Rivals

Pete, I messed up Ohio on 247. I may have listed QB’s only. So many numbers and now I know I made some filtering errors, I probably have several states somewhat out of line. Gave it a go to display a picture of the states we are recruiting, the positions, and the evaluations.

Tj,

Thanks. Your summary does exactly what you intended. It’s just a relatively current snapshot of where, who and what Tulane is recruiting. As Pete did, we can fine tune the broad overview you provided as time and developments indicate.

Bay, what is surprising to me is the number of players we have offered in Tennessee. Must have someone with connections. The other surprising thing is the number of Tight Ends offered. I think this reflects Chip Long. Notre Dame is known as TE U. I like it.

Tulane is in the mix for Brother Martin S Corey Lambert Jr. He is 6’1, 195, and is rated 3 stars by Rivals & 247. He has 16 offers - some of the schools are Army, Air Force, Duke, Memphis, Purdue, USM, Harvard, and Yale. He would be a nice get for Coach WF.

Chip Long just came from Tennessee, he certainly would have been familiar with recruiting the state there. Before that he was at Notre Dame which heavily recruits Cincinnati Catholic leagues and we suddenly have a bunch of those guys being offered. Not surprising "why" those places are suddenly being recruited but perhaps it is surprising how a new guy shows up and the recruiting target bases change so quickly and drastically.

As far as I know, Corey Lambert Jr is not committed. Just researching kids that are seriously considering Tulane and reporting their interest. No reason this has to move. If the particular prospect does eventually commit, he will certainly get his own thread as he should.

If this is a problem, just let me know and I will stop posting to this thread, or if you are questioning the content of what I am disclosing.

Wearing green sunglasses and living locally, I'm obviously biased toward State of Tulane being within 100 miles of NOLA but it is where it is. If we get inroads into Arkansas and Tennessee and those recruits are better than who we can get locally, I'm for it.

Let's see what happens with the Finley brothers.

Plus let's feel good about Fritz (and Dannen I guess) staying. With luck this could be the inflection season. Tulane has the schedule unlike 1998 to get respect. It just needs to win like 1998. May it happen.

Don't know West's "star" rating, but we need to start thinking about who will take Jeffery Johnson's place on the DLine. He is a beast and we will lose him shortly. West seems to be that type of plug in the middle with his size.
