Charles Nimrod, a WR we offered from Arkansas committed to Tennessee today.

I am starting to see us offer more unrated players. It looks like we may be scrambling a bit. A lot of time left, but it seems like we have lost some momentum. Perhaps we stay where we are currently, unless it is someone very high on our board, and wait to see how the high school season plays out.

As if the sec needed any more help with recruiting, kids are probably being told that Texas and OU will get out of their Big 12 contract and join sooner than later so if they come play in the sec, they will be part of the “super” conference and will cash in on their NIL rights.

If Texas and Oklahoma aren’t selling that pitch then they are missing out.

Please, they're probably telling kids Clemson and Ohio State are planning to join, they're going to break from the NCAA, and every player will be guaranteed six-figures-plus every year. They probably were saying that 5 years ago. Do you really think recruiters tell the truth? If the recruit signs and whatever was promised doesn't happen, it's not like they care. They shrug, make an excuse, and go back to lying to the next kid.

My buds in Texas think the UT/OU move will hurt LSU especially. A&M is rural. Kids like it or not. Some Texans that want SEC and urban lifestyle have been choosing LSU. (BR is certainly biggest campus town in SEC West and after Nashville perhaps second largest in all SEC.) Austin is materially larger than BR. Plus Norman is a glorified suburb of Oklahoma City (only 20 miles away.) We're only talking about a couple of players a year but when they're top national recruits, small things can matter. We'll see.

You could also see top rated Louisiana kids that want to play in a big city SEC town but also get away from home may start choosing Texas over lsu.

I believe Johnson is the guy who just left Newman to go to one of the semi-pro high school football teams.

Assuming he was their best WR, will that have an effect on Manning?

Rumor is Johnson burned his bridges at Newman and with the Mannings. I wouldn't be shocked to see him wind up at one of our AAC FL rivals.

Affect Arch Manning how?

I didn’t know if he was a go-to receiver for him. The one game I watched, Arch made some nice throws but the game was won by the guys around him making plays. I don’t know how deep their roster is at Newman.

LB Travious Lathan from Gulliver Prep commits to West Virginia. Big loss considering we were right there with Pitt, Miami, Oregon, and LSU. And there is no doubt Florida has been by far the most fertile recruiting territory for us this year from both a quantity and quality standpoint. Hate to see this one get away.

Is that the kid our Florida QB commitment was trying to convince to join him?

No, that was WR Camden Brown who committed to Pitt. The QB has really tried to recruit all these guys in Florida. Our class would look so different with these kids on board. We have really struggled in Texas & LA. There are some kids in Tennessee that would elevate this class also that have yet to commit. We have lost the early momentum we had. The season ahead could change that immediately.

The article from the Florida paper a while back said he was trying to get us a 4-star LB.

Zy Ford, a 3 star LB from Mississippi who we offered has committed to La Tech. I really like the class they are putting together.

It should be noted we have one of the lowest average per player rankings in the country. 13 commitments with 7 3–star, 3 2-star, and 3 unrated computes to a 1.92 average per player. Most of the 3-star commits are low 3-star guys. Not a stat we like to see. I wonder how many more players we will take. You would think we will leave 5-7 spots open for transfers.

Ja’Kavion Nonar, a OT we offered who was committed to Pittsburgh has decommitted. Future Cast has him going to the Gators.
