Clemson grad DT transferring

Unread post by StPeteWave »

Clemson DT Scott Pagano has been given his release. He's immediately able to play as he is a grad student with one year left to play.

OOH! OOH! THEY'LL COME TO TULANE IF WE JUST CALL!!

Seriously, you guys crack me up. Put this on the "non-Tulane sports" board until you hear we're actually on a list. This isn't "Tulane recruiting".

The difference is Davenport didn't play for LSU. Guys who played significant minutes or even started for national powers, especially national champions, aren't coming to Tulane, they're typically choosing between other possible title contenders (unless they have some baggage that makes them undesirable for those programs, in which case, they'd be even more poisonous to the Tulane PTB). Once they've seen the bright lights and glorious adulation, they aren't going somewhere without it unless something went really wrong, ya know?

I'm not saying this from a "woe is us, we're so bad" POV, but a "think about how 22 year olds' brains work" POV.

In similar news, Duke QB Thomas Sirk is transferring as a grad transfer. You may remember him shredding us in the opener of 2015.

Not to mention Davenport was at least in-state. If you're a bad team in a non P5 conference, you're going to need at least some connection to get these guys.

That's an experienced QB that could really help us.

No need to get optimistic - the big guy has spoken... Hey small dreams - we know Tulane. Stop being so obvious - it's a simple understanding .... Tulane will be Tulane - it's up to the individual.

I'm guessing he's talking about Pagano. He's got visits with Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Oregon setup.

No, he was not talking about Pagano.

Well I'm lost. Here's another dual threat QB transferring. He wants to play baseball too, although his baseball stats aren't much (part of why he wants to leave I guess).

Pete is right, this isn't a Tulane recruiting topic until one of these cases becomes one. That said, LSU is losing a rising 5th year senior OL; THAT is a guy we should be contacting. That SC QB doesn't blow up my skirt.

Guessing the SC QB will go to a JC so he can play baseball and get drafted. That's what he'd do if he's smart, anyway. Might not be smart (as evidenced by his decision not to sign out of high school) though.
