Andy Cannizzaro relieved of local HS job

Post by long green »

Andy is no longer the head coach at Holy Cross, who were just about to start the playoffs after a good season. No details on the reason why. Unfortunate.

They didn't have a good season. They were in the playoffs because all the teams make the playoffs due to the split between public and private schools for the playoffs. From the article:

The Tigers were 12-22 this year and 3-9 in Catholic League play.

He was there 4 years and was 10 games above .500. With his history it could be off the field concerns that brought this about.

I forgot about the split. Ed Daniels will never forgive me.

As an HC and Tulane alum, this is very disappointing.

According to posts on Tiger Rant, there was a fight at the last game of the season. He was suspended and did not coach again.

If it were for on the field reasons, they would've just waited a week for the season to be done and not let him go before the playoffs.

Making the playoffs in the manner they did ,i.e. just because they have a team, might mean they wanted to send a message that they expect a whole lot more than that.

May just be coincidence, but HC just hired a new Headmaster who started this month. He has a Navy officer background. Could just be 'there's a new sheriff in town" thing.

That message is equally delivered by firing him a week later after the season and also has the benefit of not disrupting the kids on the team/whoever has to fill in to coach at the last minute.

So the same either way as to the reason.

I guess in your world, sure, but one has a possibility of happening in reality and one doesn't.

Work on your reading comprehension. I said the reason was the same either way- poor performance. As to the players maybe the players are glad he's gone.

Yes, because as a leader, that's what you should do, eliminate everyone who helps run the enterprise, whether they are worthy or not, not just the marginal ones. :|
